Knowledge transfer from subsidiaries to headquarters – reverse knowledge transfer – and the study of emerging market multinationals are two important and rapidly growing research topics in the field of international business. This research examines knowledge acquisition and transfer by firms from an emerging economy, Brazil. Two in-depth case studies were conducted with leading companies in their respective industries, seeking to contribute to the understanding of the motives, location, and RKT processes adopted by EMNEs.
