Abstract

Financialization, understood as a ramification of the capitalist accumulation process, has reconfigured the global economy, conditioning the performance of economic agents and manifesting itself in the very dimension of financial wealth, playing a prominent role in imposing the behavior of individuals and firms, determining the pattern of household consumption and the allocation of resources among parts of society through income distribution channels. From this perspective, this article aims to contribute to theoretical discussions on the expansionist theme of financialization and its ramifications in the behavior of productive units, firms, as well as the deleterious effects of this process in the labor sphere. We will discuss the role of productive units and their growth trajectory, as well as the role of Transnational Corporations immersed in the expansion scenario of capitalism worldwide.
