Therefore the aim of this paper is to analyze three groups of conferences: the Popular Conferences of Glória, the National Museum public courses and the “Miscellaneous” conferences, that did not belong to other categories. Initially the operation dynamics of these events are presented; subsequently the presentations related to subjects like science are analyzed and, finally, a discussion will be undertaken about the spaces mentioned before as places for the literate and scientific sociability.
