Public services and foreign investment in Spain (1850-1936): water and gas companies
Abstract
The objective of this article is the study of foreign water and gas companies in Spain in the last decades of the 19th century and the first ones of the 20th. The interest of this work lies in three aspects that are outlined throughout the text. First, the importance that foreign investment has had in the economic analysis; second, assessing the relevance it had in Spain; and finally, the role played by the network industries ? especially water and gas ? in this investment process.Downloads
