Territorial demarcations and legal regimes of land appropriation: Buenos Aires and Rio Grande do Sul in comparative perspective
Abstract
This article discusses, in the framework of the construction of nation-states, the implementation of measures that, while attempting to organize a system of ownership and possession of the land, proposed its measurement, demarcation and registration, as well as the discrimination between public and private lands individuals and the drawing of maps as fundamental tools in the construction of a “modern state”.
