Application of simulation techniques in lean manufacturing projects

The strong competition observed nowadays in the market has forced the manufacturing enterprises to look for more efficiency and efficacy in the production process administration. Many methodologies and techniques were and are been developed. The lean manufacturing strategy, globally accepted as originated from the development of the Toyota production processes, also known as Toyota Production System, has been extensively applied as philosophical base to improve the industrial production process. With a wide variety of techniques applied, has contributed to increase the competitiveness of organizations that have based on this philosophy. This paper presents the concepts and guideline related to the lean manufacturing philosophy and the application of simulation techniques in this kind of project.
