Solid wastes of health services: diagnosis and guidelines for hospital management

It has been noted in recent years, a significant increase in the production of solid wastes of health services, constituting a major problem for health-care facilities. Studies on knowledge of quantities and characteristics of wastes of Health Services allow you to design a management system appropriate and in accordance with the reality of the establishment, providing a management policy correct. The objective of this research is to contribute to building scientific references for better management of solid wastes of health services, taking case some hospitals. In this work are presented, the methodological conception, the data survey and the information systematization. The data collection has been accomplished by means of interviews, systematized observation, WMPHS analysis – by considering the aspects related to generation, segregation, packing, collection, storage, transportation, treatment and final destination. Was possible to examine that the hospitals studied do not have a management system of RSS in accordance with the current Brazilian legislation, having necessity of adaptation the hospitals researched in accordance with the current legislations, emphasizing the implantation of a WMPHS, besides a continuing education program in service.
