An approach to the history of educational institutions: The importance of the school’s archives
Abstract
Starting from the awareness of the present crisis in the schools, this article reflects about aspects of its identity through a brief discussion of some thinkers and new approaches. The history of education prioritizes new topics and looks for elements to analyze the history of educational institutions, showing the importance of the school archives for this study. The presentation of the documents of an existing educational institution (Liceu Feminino Santista) aims at exemplifying the value of the school documents and archives for the retrieval of the school’s image.
