Abstract

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic required society to make several changes in the way it acts, aiming to reduce the contagion of the disease. Such changes have the potential to cause relevant impacts on people's mental health, with or without mental disorders, which may increase the incidence of anxiety symptoms. The aim of this article was to report treatment based on cognitive-behavioral therapy of a patient who had a previous diagnosis of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and relapsed with the onset of the pandemic. It can be observed that, through the use of CBT, the symptoms that the patient presented, which resembled the signs of COVID-19 infection and that arose in ansiogenic situations, decreased dramatically.
