Innovation is a complex process that requires management and strategy, and having models that support this process brings numerous benefits. However, finding the right model for a given context is challenging due to the plurality and the continuous production of new artifacts. Given this scenario and the lack of artifacts for the educational sector, this study seeks to answer the following question: how can an innovation management model be characterized for an educational institution? This research proposes an innovation management model for the education sector based on the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology. The result is Innova-Edu, a framework for innovation management focused on developing products and services in the education sector, including a prescription for instantiating the artifact in future studies. This work makes an academic contribution to innovation and education by proposing an artifact ready for instantiation, with indicators for measuring results, an element that is little identified in the literature. The managerial contribution is a framework designed to support educational institutions searching for innovations aligned with organizational strategy, minimizing risks and wasted resources. By facilitating the completion of innovative initiatives and the evaluation of their impact, Innova-Edu promotes the creation of solutions that can reduce school drop-outs, enrich the educational experience, improve student employability and develop essential skills for contemporary challenges. With the potential to generate new sources of revenue and solve concrete problems for institutions, the framework presents itself as a strategic management tool for the education sector.
