The study analyzes the possibilities of Brazilian immigration, the processes of return, reemigration and development. The central question of the article is the financial remittances and their investments in the places of origin of the flows. It was verified that they are not promoters of sustainable processes of economic development, instead, they produce social and economic well-being for the families that receive them, producing deep differentiation between those who are involved and those who are not, as well as end up being promoters of new outflows. It was researched in some municipalities of the South of Brazil where there is a greater flow of exit of Brazilian emigrants to Italy and Austria, as well as in some provinces of Italy where there is a large presence of Brazilian immigrants. It has been understood that there are no mediation, advisory, credit, knowledge in the places of origin to use this financial resource to promote local/regional development. So, the intention of the countries receiving immigrants to try to make viable the reduction of emigration through remittances ends up producing an opposite effect.
