Abstract

In distant and skeptical times with theoretical expositions and a predominantly pragmatic vision, the intention is to investigate relations between the theory and constructed work, making a revision and interpretation of some prominent works of recent Chilean architecture, with the premise that behind everything we do, conscious or unconsciously, we transfer a way to understand and to respond to complexity in reality. With this motive, we concentrated in the particular study of The offices of Panels Arauco, looking for a way to contrast Jose Cruz Ovalle’s approach with direct work experience, making an interpretation able to contrast conceptual expositions that precede, prefigure and clarify the author’s intentions, with the reality of the constructed architecture; contrast which we will call “the theory of the work”.

Key words: project, theory, chilean architecture, offices.
