 A new section of

Filosofia Unisinos - Unisinos Journal of Philosophy

http://revistas.unisinos.br/filosofia

Philosophy South is a new special section of the Brazilian philosophy journal Filosofia Unisinos - Unisinos Journal of Philosophy (ISSN: 1984-8234) dedicated to short-length papers written in English. We seek to publish clear and concise scholarly works from all philosophical traditions that advance an original thesis.

Filosofia Unisinos - Unisinos Journal of Philosophy is a fully peer-reviewed, open-access publication hosted by Unisinos, a Jesuit University in the South of Brazil. It is committed to publishing papers of high academic quality accessible to a wide audience, and it is the single publication from Brazil, and one of the few in Latin America, indexed in both Isis-Web of Science and Scopus.

Philosophy South commences with Filosofia Unisinos - Unisinos Journal of Philosophy’s first issue of 2016 (Vol. 17th), winter issue for the Southern Hemisphere and summer issue for the Northern Hemisphere.

Deadline and Essay Prize: We have also secured an essay prize of $300 for the best contribution received to the Philosophy South section, repeated for the three issues of Filosofia Unisinos - Unisinos Journal of Philosophy of 2016. The winners of the first (already published) and second (to be published in October) editions are, respectively, Brian Ball, Oxford University/ New School of Humanities, London, UK, and Alejandro Rosas, University of Bogota, Colombia. We are now preparing the third edition.

Deadline for submissions for the Philosophy Southsection: November 30th, 2016.

For those from Brazil, Latin America, and elsewhere who are not native English speakers, we will continue to offer our free editing service to improve the style of accepted papers. The aim, as with our parent journal, is to remove all obstacles restricting communication of philosophical ideas between the North and the South.

All submissions will be subjected to rigorous double blind review. Submissions should be appropriately anonymized, written in English, and not more than 5,000 words in length. Contributions may be submitted through our website. For more information about layout, style, and the submission and review process, please see the Instructions for Authors:

For submissions to the section Philosophy South, Filosofia Unisinos- Unisinos Journal of Philosophy is committed to a speedy and author-friendly review process; in most cases, the editors will notify the authors of their decision within four months.
