The Brazilian audiovisual market, alternative circuit of exhibition, shows and movie festivals in contemporary Bahia

The audiovisual market in Brazil has boosted in the last decade as a result of economic and cultural policies implemented by the state. Figures about the growth of domestic production of films and TV series and the expansion of consumption of national films point to potential formation of a market as well as the importance of public funding as a propellant industry. However, despite the significant results of public policies to foment audiovisual production, there has been a permanent fragility of the integration of national films in the supply chain view, a factor that, among others, enhances the expansion of festivals and shows across the country. In this context, the objective of this article is to discuss the results of studies about the expansion circuit of film festivals in Brazil and in Bahia, which are made from promotion policies as the main alternative of dissemination of Brazilian films that do not reach the commercial exhibition circuit.
